Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 10, 2026 · Last Updated: June 10, 2026
ReelTrack is built for anglers, by an angler. We collect only what we need to make the app work, we never sell your data, and we try to be straightforward about what we do with your information.
1. Who We Are
ReelTrack is operated by ReelTrack Outdoors LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. You can reach us at support@reeltrack.app.
2. What We Collect
Account information
- Email address and password (used to create and secure your account)
- Name, home state, date of birth, grade, school name, coach name, and phone number — optional fields you fill in on your profile
Catch data
- Species, weight, length, and notes you enter when logging a catch
- GPS coordinates at the time you log the catch (used to show catch locations on your map)
- Photos you take or attach to a catch — we automatically strip GPS metadata from photos before storing them
- Water conditions, weather, lure, structure, and other optional fields you choose to fill in
Tournament data
- Tournament entries, weigh-in results, boat assignments, and check-in records associated with events you join or run
- Digital waiver signatures (email address of the account that accepted the waiver)
Device and usage data
- Basic app usage information collected by Expo (our app build platform) for crash reporting and performance monitoring
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell usage data to third parties
Documents stored on your device only
- If you use the My Documents feature (fishing license, boat registration, insurance card, etc.), those photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the app — logging catches, running tournaments, displaying your history and personal bests
- To power AI Tacklebox — your catch history and current conditions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate fishing recommendations. This is done through a secure server-side proxy; your Anthropic API credentials are never stored on your device
- To send SMS notifications — if you join a tournament, the director may send your boat number and check-in time via Twilio SMS to the phone number on your profile
- To send tournament invitation emails via Resend, if your email is on a club roster and a director sends invitations
- To process subscription payments through RevenueCat (iOS App Store and Google Play billing)
- To improve the app through aggregated, anonymized usage data
4. What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party
- We do not share your exact GPS catch locations with other users. Community-level data (such as aggregated catch counts by lake) may be used in future features, but your specific spots are never shared
- We do not display ads in the ReelTrack app
- We do not store your documents in the cloud — the My Documents feature is device-local only
5. Third-Party Services
ReelTrack uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — database and file storage (catch photos, profile avatars). Data is stored in the United States.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI fishing recommendations in the Tacklebox feature
- Twilio — SMS notifications for tournament participants
- Resend — transactional email (tournament invitations)
- RevenueCat — subscription billing management (Apple and Google handle the actual payment processing)
- Expo / EAS — app build and over-the-air update delivery
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We choose providers that handle data responsibly and we use them only to the extent necessary to operate the app.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (such as billing records).
Catch data and tournament records may be retained in anonymized, aggregated form after account deletion.
7. Your Rights
You can:
- Access and edit your profile information at any time from within the app
- Delete individual catches from your history
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us at support@reeltrack.app
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us or using the account deletion page at reeltrack.app/delete-account
8. Children's Privacy
ReelTrack serves high school fishing programs and may be used by anglers under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at support@reeltrack.app and we will promptly delete the account.
For users between 13 and 17, we recommend that a parent or guardian review this Privacy Policy.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on our database, and protection against the use of known compromised passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
